Shin Kong Life Insurance (SKL) was founded on July 30, 1963. Over the decades, the company has adhered to the principles of "innovation, service, sincerity, and giving back to society" as it strives to develop into a comprehensive and global insurance provider. In 2009, SKL had assets of over NT$1.4 trillion and total operating revenue of over NT$396.2 billion, making it one of Taiwan's leading life insurers.
SKL has been aggressively expanding and diversifying sales channels. Today, the company provides insurance services through a 10,000-strong sales force. It also supports customers through its nationwide network of service outlets and online system. All these are parts of our service network that work together to provide timely and convenient service to our customers. In addition, SKL offers a full range of insurance products to meet the different needs and plans of policyholders. These include traditional life insurance, interest-sensitive policies, investment-linked policies, individual accident insurance, individual health insurance, and group insurance.
As for the development of overseas markets, our joint venture with China’s Hainan Airlines Group, "Shin Kong & HNA Life Insurance”, opened for business in April 2009, making SKL one of the few Taiwanese insurance companies that have established full-fledged operations in China. In future, SKL will follow a steady growth strategy to expand market opportunities in the cross-strait area.
In recognition of its industry-leading services, SKL was awarded the 15th National Quality Award by the Executive Yuan in 2004. In 2005, the company won the First Taiwan Insurance Excellence Award in the categories of "Employee Training" and "Public Service Image"; and in 2006, it was named "Institutional Investor of the Year" by the Asian Investor magazine. In 2007, SKL won the Executive Yuan's National HRD InnoPrize in the group and individual categories and the seventh National Public Service Award. In 2009, SKL won the “Public Welfare Excellence Award” and “Public Welfare Special Award” in the Third Taiwan Insurance Excellence Award. Since 1999, SKL has won in various group and individual categories of the Insurance Faith, Hope, and Love Award presented by the Taipei Modern Insurance Education Foundation every year and was awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Award for eleven consecutive years. All these highlight Shin Kong’s performance in service quality and asset management.
